Mailbox & Drop Box Frequently Asked Questions

The current collection includes wall-mounted mailboxes, through-door and through-wall drop boxes, over-door designs, and a post-mounted package mailbox. They differ in deposit direction, retrieval access, opening size, and installation method.

A mailbox is designed primarily for receiving mail, while a drop box can accept documents, keys, checks, or other appropriately sized items through a defined slot. The exact accepted item size and security features depend on the model.

A locking package mailbox is intended for parcels that fit its deposit opening and internal bin. Check both measurements before ordering; it is not a substitute for unrestricted package delivery.

Selected models are intended for outdoor installation and list rainproof or weather-resistant features. Material, lid design, mounting, and exposure limits vary; follow the selected product’s installation and maintenance guidance.

A wall-mounted locking mailbox attaches to a suitable surface and limits retrieval to someone with the correct key or access method. Check the model’s dimensions, deposit opening, and mounting hardware.

A through-the-wall drop box receives items on one side of a wall and allows retrieval from the other side. Confirm the wall opening, chute size, wall thickness, and access clearance for the selected model.

A through-the-door drop box accepts appropriately sized mail, documents, or keys from the public side of a door while providing retrieval from the protected side. Check the cutout and door requirements before installation.

Selected over-door models hang on a suitable door rather than requiring a permanent wall opening. Verify the door thickness, clearance, deposit size, and lock configuration on the individual listing.

MetaTeel mailbox and drop-box models use different locking methods, including keyed and selected combination designs. Locking does not imply every model has anti-fishing protection; check the exact listing.

Choose first by installation location and what users will deposit. Then compare opening size, internal capacity, weather exposure, lock and retrieval access, wall or door dimensions, and the individual product specifications.
